Direct pediatric care (ie// Direct primary care, or DPC) is an alternative form of healthcare that removes the barriers between the patient doctor relationship. It aims to eliminate insurance companies as the middle-men and return practice to a prior era.

By working outside of insurance companies, physicians are able to have more time to focus on providing superior care for their patients. More time equates to same or next day appointments, longer appointment times, increased access via text and telemedicine, as well as little to no time in the waiting rooms.

In an insurance based model, doctors are reimbursed when a patient is seen in the office. In DPC, prices are set; this means your doctor is more focused on preventative care and keeping you healthy rather than bringing you in for every question and request. Price transparency with membership means no co-pays, or surprise fees after the fact.

Though very similar to concierge medicine, DPC does stand out by being more affordable and not charging insurance on top of its membership fee.
