Why doesn't Free Range take insurance?

Free Range Pediatrics is part of the Direct Pediatric Care movement. This is where patients, in exchange for a low monthly fee, have direct access to their doctor in the form of text, call and email as well as same day in-office sick and well visits. This movement was created in response to the broken American healthcare system and works to restore the doctor patient relationship.

The current, most common form of practice is the fee-for-service model in which patient's pay for every encounter and service performed by their doctor. Your insurance is billed, and whatever isn't covered goes toward your deductible (ie// fun surprise bill for an unknown amount after your visit). Under this model, the doctor often must have their patient's come in for every question and concern in order to be reimbursed for their medical advise. This also does not incentivize doctors to advance their technology into the 21st century, and can leave a lot of patients unnecessarily inconvenienced. Why can't I just send a picture of this rash to my doctor? Why do I have to call out of work to take my child in for a school note or a medication refill? Surely I can just send a quick picture and ask if it needs stitches...

At Free Range, you can! When insurance is taken out of the equation, life gets much more convenient for you and allows your doctor to work with you in making the best decision for your child's health, not the best decision for what your insurance will allow.

Set up for a meet and greet with Dr. Janke to talk about membership today.
